- Rules V2.2
- Updated: October 26, 2024
Overview
These rules are designed to promote fair play and respectful interactions within StickMUD. Always use common sense, and when in doubt, ask for clarification from an administrator.
Harassment
Harassment includes, but is not limited to:
- Verbal Assaults: Insults, threats, or comments that are racially or sexually offensive.
- Unwanted Advances: Making real-life threats or unsolicited personal advances.
- Disruptive Behavior: Actions that prevent others from enjoying gameplay, such as excessive player-killing or spamming.
Note: The administration reserves the right to determine what constitutes harassment and may issue punishments ranging from warnings to permanent bans.
Cheating
Cheating is strictly prohibited and will result in penalties deemed appropriate by the administration. Cheating includes:
- Exploiting Bugs: Using bugs to gain an advantage.
- Using Unattended Characters: Characters performing actions without an active player.
- Unauthorized Multiple Characters: Playing with unregistered multiple characters or using the Guest account while controlling another character.
Note: Simply transferring equipment or gold between your own multiple characters does not constitute cheating.
Multiple Characters (Mchars)
- Account Security: Allowing others to use your character or using someone else’s character is not permitted.
- Character Transfer: Transferring characters to others is forbidden.
- Character Mixing: Avoid using one character to aid another; this can damage your reputation, even if technically allowed.
Prohibited Actions
The following actions are strictly disallowed:
- Attacking Coders: Coders and test characters are off-limits.
- Harassing Coders: Repeated demands or complaints will not be tolerated.
- Spamming: Excessive, irrelevant posts or obscene content on public boards/channels is prohibited.
Player Etiquette (Suggestions)
- Avoid Targeting New Players: Refrain from attacking players who are significantly lower level.
- Communicate Before Combat: Inform other players before engaging in combat.
- Leave Low-Level Monsters: Allow lower-level players access to low-difficulty monsters.
- Avoid Mixing Multiple Characters: Do not use one character to resolve conflicts involving another of your characters.
- Use English on Public Channels: For clarity, English is preferred on public channels, except where specified.
Note: Be cautious when sending potentially offensive messages to admins or public boards. Offending the community or the administration can lead to lengthy bans.
